Daya devi dasi
Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to you!
On this auspicious moment of your birthday puja, I sincerely pray to Krsna for your good health. What else can I do? Gurudeva you are the delegate of Lord Krsna in this material world. Because of your transcendental spiritual power and mercy, hippies, drunkards, lustful materialists, and rascals become gentlemen and ladies by taking shelter of you – a Vaisnava devotee of the Lord!
Dear Gurudeva, on this auspicious day, how can I honor you? How can I remember your earnest teachings and your warm care and encouragement. Your glory has been spread to all three worlds and is bringing spiritual blessings to all three worlds because of your tireless devotion to your spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. This service pleases your spiritual master and more so Krsna. Due to the causeless mercy of Krsna, the words that flow from your lotus mouth purify the three worlds.
In these past few years, the pandemic has been sweeping the world, and natural disasters are raging. With all that, and regardless of your health, we get to hear the story of the Lord Krsna and His sweet friends from you every Monday and Thursday on the internet. On several occasions, you shut off the video because you were not feeling well and were afraid that we would be worried by seeing you looking unwell. But your voice quality still indicated that you were in less than perfect health. My dear Gurudeva, tears fill my eyes when I think of this. There is not a moment when you do not remember the preaching, the service to your guru Srila Prabhupada, and the wellbeing of your disciples thousands of miles away. You are always racing against time to do the service of devotion and serving your guru Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. You are the perfect acarya and always teach by your own example! O Guru Maharaja, the kindest of Krsna’s devotees, when will I develop a little bhakti to Lord Krsna from your love? Then I can say that I am your disciple – Daya devi dasi!
Dear Gurudeva, we meet over the internet and the words flowing out of your lotus mouth become a medicine for fallen souls in pain. Witnessing the radiant and merciful face of Lord Krsna with you online for nearly two hours time sweeps away the weariness of the day of the disciples and devotees. Your exquisite and vivid power point courseware is always vivid, witty and trenchant to elaborate how the three modes of material nature, the mind, envy, pride, and other subtle ropes have bound the fallen souls who obtain the solution by listening to your lessons.
Dear Gurudeva, my vine of bhakti has been nourished by this constant online association with you, and you initiated me in July of this year by your causeless mercy, even though I am so fallen and unqualified.
Gurudeva, please accept my obeisance’s a thousand times. On this auspicious day, I pray that one day I will be able to serve you as you have served Srila Prabhupada!
Your humble servant,
Daya devi das
