Nandimukhi devi dasi
Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to you and Srila Prabhupada.
Ever since devotees helped me come to know about Krsna, my life became complete. At the same time, those who take up Krsna consciousness anew are like bhakti babies who need guardians to take care of them and help them grow as a spiritual person.
While I incline to act as a protector, one that can be counted on, etc., more deeply there is a longing for a father – a figure that I am willing to regard as a father and feel comfortable coming under his wing. Fathers are pillars in the development of a child’s spiritual personality. Youngsters look to their fathers for role models as well as a sense of security.
By the grace of Krsna and devotees, I could learn to acknowledge this aspect of me. They, in addition, graced me with a spiritual master who accepted me and looks after my well-being. Gradually, I could understand that as soon as the spiritual master makes up his mind to adopt an individual as a disciple, an ever-lasting paternal bond is established. This bond can be continuingly strengthened even the spiritual master, or the disciple are no longer physically present.
The success of re-establishing the relationship with Krsna largely lies in re-establishing the relationship with the spiritual master. May I be more open to embrace this relationship and act in it. May the relationship be fortified by service. May the family business of spreading Krsna consciousness continue to prosper.
Your humble servant,
Nandimukhi devi dasi
