Daya devi dasi
Dear Gurudeva,
Please accept my thousands of devout obeisances! Gurudeva, you are the merciful ocean, the savior of fallen souls, and the representative of Krsna. A person with true knowledge will crawl at your lotus feet, holding straw in their mouth, and devoutly bowing down to you time and again. It is you who have saved the soul from the pain and helplessness of being trapped in darkness and ignorance! Oh, Gurudeva, how can I express my gratitude to you? Language and writing appear pale and powerless at this moment. For the rest of my life, I will only humbly follow and serve your lotus feet!
Gurudeva, it is your birthday again, and it’s time for the disciples to offer prayers. As your disciple, I feel deeply ashamed. Looking back on what I’ve been thinking this year, I don’t know what to say. I don’t seem to have done anything to please your service. Fortunately, I have been assisting teachers in serving the devotees as a student committee member, host, and team leader in the Vaisnava Cultural Park system. I have also copied and shared the knowledge of Bhagavad-gita learned in the system with the devotees in the Zhengzhou group. Although there are no more than ten people who have stabilized and studied the system, we have now learned Chapter 8. In the middle, I also thought about giving up, but in the end, the motivation that allowed me to persist in doing this service came from my love and service to you, Gurudeva! Every time I feel restless, I ask myself, “Daya, how are you going to serve your guru and please your guru? Are you just talking nonsense?” Oh, Gurudeva, when I tried to serve you and fulfill my duty as a disciple, I realized how serious it is to practice and follow in your footsteps. It is not empty words, it is action, it is giving, it is a sincere dedication with Krsna consciousness. Although I am not doing well now, I believe that as long as I persist and continue to do it with your kindness, one day I will get better.
Gurudeva, at this auspicious moment, I don’t know how to honor you, because you yourself are a representative of the glorious personality. You embody the exemplary style of an acarya, and you are the embodiment of the sacred scripture of the Bhagavad-gita. Your lotus mouth always flows with sweet nectar that extinguishes the raging flames of the material world, bringing coolness and auspiciousness to the creatures of the three realms. Your preaching figure is always shuttling around the world, and you are always racing against time to serve and please your guru – Srila Prabhupada. Oh, Gurudeva, every time I recall your carefree moments, I am filled with strength and glory. Because of your association, I have been sanctified from corruption. I also want to do some practical work to serve the devotees and spread Krsna consciousness, in order to serve you and please you. This will become my current action guide.
Gurudeva, please once again accept my most sincere obeisances! Praying to Krsna: Wishing you good health and smooth preaching!
Your humble disciple,
