Dear Romapada Swami,

Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

As I am writing this usual salutation to you: “please accept my humble obeisances” I am noticing the huge difference in my feelings from thirty five years ago, when I met you to now.

It was definitely very strange for me, a product of western culture to offer obeisances to anyone, so I repeated the salutation just to copy everyone, not truly accepting it.

As I continued in my path of self-realization, this salutation became the test of my advancement or lack thereof.

I was so curious as to why devotees prostrated themselves to each other to offer respect. It took such a long time, to practice seeing Krsna in the Other, being grateful for the opportunity to feel Krsna in the Other that eventually these feelings of gratitude live in me with regularity.

Yes, dear Guru Maharaja, through the thick and thin of experiences, I now, more than ever, ask you to accept my humble obeisances.!
