Raghunandana dasa and Jayanti devi dasi
Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept our humble obeisances in the dust of your divine lotus feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Please accept our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for your merciful presence in our lives. Not just a presence, but a very personal presence. It is very rare to find even close relatives to truly care for one in this world. Yet here you are, extending your care and affection through your personal presence in our lives. You invest your time and energy in each one of us. You know us much better than we do ourselves. You are infinitely patient, infinitely supportive and infinitely encouraging.
The obvious question comes – are we really qualified to receive such mercy? And the answer is equally obvious – No, we aren’t in the least qualified. That’s when we truly start to understand the words “causeless mercy”. The word mercy is a very common term in the language of the ISKCON devotees and the words “causeless mercy” isn’t far behind. So frequently uttered and used that it becomes challenging to make an attempt to understand the true meaning of these words. But your personal and kind presence in our lives helps us understand the true meaning of “causeless mercy”.
By Srila Prabhupada’s mercy we devotees in ISKCON sing the 8 verses glorifying the guru and you are the very embodiment of each and every word in those 8 verses. You chant the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, dancing in ecstasy, singing, and playing musical instruments, you are always gladdened by the sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. And you mercifully engage us in that service. We offer our respectful obeisances unto your lotus feet.
You are always engaged in the worship of Sri Sri Radha Krsna and you mercifully teach us, guide us and engage us in such worship of dressing the deities in beautiful clothes and ornaments, cleaning their temple etc. You are always making sure that the devotees take Krsna prasadam and are properly taken care of. Whether it be home programs or retreats or yatras, you are very thoughtful about the comforts and the prasadam needs of the devotees. We offer our respectful obeisances unto your lotus feet.
So much to learn from your own example on how to serve guru and Vaisnavas. We pray at your lotus feet that we can imbibe and make the humble mood of service the core aspect of our lives.
Thanking You!
Your servants,
Jayanti devi dasi and Raghunandana dasa
