Our dear and most respected Spiritual Master,

Please accept our most humble obeisances in the dust of your divine lotus feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

On this most auspicious occasion of your Vyasa-puja, we are trying to meditate on your exalted nature, for doing so can cleanse the heart of all dirty things and distractions.

Your Lifes mission – Devotional Service to Lord

Dear Guru Maharaja, I was reading the following sloka and meditating on your loving devotion to the Supreme Lord. Srimad-Bhagavatam 4.31.21 says:

The Supreme Personality of Godhead becomes very dear to those devotees who have no material possessions but are fully happy in possessing the devotional service of the Lord. Indeed, the Lord relishes the devotional activities of such devotees.”

Srila Prabhupada writes in the purport, “A devotee is always happy in possessing the devotional service of the Lord. They abandon affection for all these material possessions and are always happy in possessing the shelter of the lotus feet of the Lord.”

A devotee such as yourself is very satisfied and is completely dedicated to the devotional service of the Lord. Your life’s only mission is to share this jewel of devotional service which is the highest purpose of life.

Life is not about balancing but dedicating everything to the loving service of Lord

However, the current situation in the material world is beautifully mentioned by Srila Prabhupada in purport to Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.3.43, “In the kali-yuga the population is just a royal edition of the animals. They have nothing to do with spiritual knowledge or godly religious life.”

Even in this scenario, you have not only managed to save us but gave us the confidence that it is devotional service which is the only duty of a living entity. Whenever you are asked the question on balancing between the spiritual and material world, you would answer it is not the question of balancing, it is about dedicating everything to the service of Lord.

Srimad-Bhagavatam is the only savior

Srila Prabhupada continues in the same purport, “…both the Bhagavad-gīta and the Srimad-Bhagavatam are like torchbearers for the blind people of this age. In other words, if men in this Age of Kali want to see the real light of life, they must take to these two books only, and their aim of life will be fulfilled.” Following the instruction exactly as it is, your faith and love for Srimad-Bhagavatam is from the other world. You have instilled in us faith enough to accept its authority. You have taught us that by aural reception to the message of Bhagavatam, the heart is cleansed, our original consciousness is re-awakened and we find what we have always been looking for. You have also taught us that the purpose and essence of the entire Srimad-Bhagavatam is that Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and loving service to Him is the only duty of the living entity.

Living Bhagavata

The purport of Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.2.18 says, “There are two types of Bhagavatas, namely the book Bhagavata and the devotee Bhagavata. Both the Bhagavatas are competent remedies, and both of them or either of them can be good enough to eliminate the obstacles. A devotee Bhagavata is as good as the book Bhagavata because the devotee Bhagavata leads his life in terms of the book Bhagavata and the book Bhagavata is full of information about the Personality of Godhead and His pure devotees, who are also Bhagavatas. Bhagavata book and person are identical.”

You are the living, walking representative of the Bhagavatam, you are the embodiment of all the religious principles and good qualities. All we need to do is to take the association of Bhagavata like you, by doing so will eliminate all inauspicious things within the heart, which are considered to be obstacles in the path of self-realization.

Guru Maharaja, you are the inspiration to all of us. We sincerely pray from core of our heart to Lord Nrsimhadeva to protect and bless you, so that you can carry out the orders of your spiritual master, His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada.

Kindly forgive us for our offenses and mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly. We hope to remain disciples ever aspiring to serve you with real faith, love and dedication.
